It is not every day that a volunteer group asks to purchase and donate the supplies used for our projects. At our recent “A Brush with Kindness” volunteer day on May 25th, Sherwin-Williams generously donated paint, paint brushes, roller cages, covers, water bottles, and ice. With the help of volunteers from Sherwin-Williams and Levi Strauss, Victor’s home received a fresh coat of paint with a soft yellow base and a pearl white trim.
Victor has lived in Moreno Valley for over ten years and is a well-known resident of his mobile home park because of his willingness to help his fellow neighbors with home repairs. Though he enjoys working on these small projects, he has had to stop doing them because of his health. Unable to complete the projects himself, the paint on his home had faded and become weathered and the skirting was in need of repair.
About half way through the project we had an unexpected guest, a neighborhood dog got loose and came by to receive love and attention from volunteers. After a few minutes, a sweet elderly woman came by to retrieve the energetic husky. Never a dull moment on a Habitat for Humanity Riverside project!
Once the project was finished, Victor was overwhelmed by the new look of his home, it was exactly what he wanted. The skirting repairs were finished and the paint looked amazing! Alex, a store manager from Sherwin-Williams stated, “We are so glad we could help out. Thank you for the opportunity to help in our community.”
Thank you, Levi Strauss, for your amazing help and thank you, Sherwin-Williams, for the generous donations and expert painting tips. You all have made Victor a very happy man!
