On Saturday morning, 26 academy recruits training to become sheriffs from the Ben Clark Training Center and 6 members from Calvary Presbyterian came out to join us in A Brush With Kindness project on John’s mobile home in Mission Village. John, a Philadelphia native, has been a resident in Mission Village for 26 years. He was recently approached by management to update the exterior of his home. Fortunately, Habitat is here to help!
Gathered around donuts and coffee, we ran our volunteers through safety procedures and painting basics. The team tackled the project with excitement–quickly rolling out the tarps, distributing paint rollers to one another, and getting ladders set up.
Volunteer Alexander Burrell exclaimed, “Helping one is helping many. It feels good to help someone in need and in our community!” Jessica Lamb chimed in with similar thoughts, “It’s great to have this opportunity to give back while working with our group. The support from the neighbors has been so heartwarming.”
Our thanks go out to the volunteers from the Ben Clark Training Center and Calvary Presbyterian Church for joining us in helping restore the exterior of John’s home!
