On Wednesday, October 18th, 2017, a team of First American employees came out to help repaint Lois’ home. Lois, a senior, has been a resident of Rancho Caballero Mobile Home Park for four years. She has been looking forward to this project to give her home a fresh, new look.
For many of the volunteers, it was their first time participating in an “A Brush with Kindness” project with Habitat for Humanity Riverside, however they shared that they have volunteered on construction builds in the past. Tameka, First American’s team leader, expressed her excitement to be working alongside Habitat for Humanity again and how she cannot wait to volunteer her construction skills on our upcoming build in Jurupa Valley.
The First American team of volunteers tackled the task at hand right away. They were careful with the precision of their painting and possessed an attention for detail. Before wrapping up, some volunteers examined the home and did last minute touch-ups. One volunteer shared, “I treat this project as if I was painting my own home, and I know I would want it to look perfect.”
At the end of the day, Lois came out of her home to meet the volunteers and to show her gratitude for their help. She exclaimed, “My neighbors keep complimenting the color of the trim. I just love it. Thank you all so much for helping me, I appreciate it a lot.”
Thank you First American for helping to complete a home preservation project!
