On Friday October 6th, new and returning volunteers from Bank of America came out to The Meadows Mobile Home Park in Riverside to help paint Diane’s home. This is a part of Bank of America’s fourth annual Global Build partnership with Habitat for Humanity, which aims to help build or revitalize homes in more than 90 communities in six countries.
Diane is a new resident to The Meadows having just moved here a year ago. She shared how the park organizes weekly events in the clubhouse, such as line dancing, aquatic lessons, and ceramic classes. She loves the sense of community and involvement. Together alongside Bank of America’s volunteers, we were excited to help give Diane’s home a fresh, new look so that she is as proud of her home as she is of her community.
After running through the safety procedures and introducing our volunteers to Diane, everyone was excited to begin painting. For most of the Bank of America volunteers, this was not their first time on a Habitat Riverside project. Because of this, within minutes they had grabbed their rollers and began painting different areas of the home.
Different conversations flowed as they were painting the home. One volunteer expressed how he enjoys being a part of Bank of America’s volunteer events because they serve as a space for them to build connections with other Bank of America employees who are passionate about serving the community. Another volunteer was excited to learn that Habitat Riverside will be building 26 new homes in Jurupa Valley in the upcoming year.
