Riverside City Staff Volunteer to Paint a Home

Bruno is a resident of Village Riverside Mobile Home Park where he lives with his wife and parents. Recently, he had a chance to observe the work Habitat for Humanity Riverside does when his neighbor’s home was painted one morning. When he realized he also needed help in restoring the exterior of his home, he knew exactly which organization to contact.

Due to the different material of the siding on Bruno’s home, the work was split between two dates. One week, several students from both Loma Linda University and California Baptist University volunteered to paint two walls of the home, as well as the shed.

On Monday, November 13th, 2017, members of the City of Riverside Management Team volunteered to paint the remaining two walls and the fascia of the home. It was a great experience for many of them to work directly on a hands-on project. Al Zelinka, Assistant City Manager for the City of Riverside, commented on the event, “I work with an incredible team. People who are top-tier talents in their respective professions, people who are proud of being public servants, people who like to do good in their lives, and people who find great value in helping others.”

The volunteers were keen to detail and adept at precision, all of which showed in the quality of their work. Bruno’s father consistently expressed his gratitude for all the volunteers’ help. He and his family made rounds around the home to see if they can clean up an area or move items to allow volunteers to get closer to the home. They also graciously provided the volunteers with water.

Thank you to the great volunteers that helped to revitalize Bruno’s home. We could not have done it without you!
