On the morning of October 19th, 2017, Habitat for Humanity Riverside’s project in partnership with the California Department of Veteran Affairs (CalVet) to build 26 homes for veterans and their families, was celebrated with a public groundbreaking ceremony that took place on the five acres of land at the end of Amarillo Street in Jurupa Valley where the homes will be built.
The ceremony began at 10:00am with a warm welcome speech by Nicholas Adcock, President of Habitat for Humanity Riverside’s Board of Directors. He was followed by the Presentation of Colors performed by the 11th Armored Cavalry Horse Detachment as Staff Sergeant Ian Inouye sang the National Anthem. Speakers included U.S. Congressman Mark Takano, State Senator Richard Roth, Assembly Member Sabrina Cervantes, CalVet Undersecretary Russell Atterberry, Riverside County Board of Supervisors Chairman Chuck Washington, and the Mayor of Jurupa Valley, Verne Lauritzen.

This project would not be possible without the hard work and support of all of Habitat for Humanity Riverside’s donors, sponsors, and partners. Thanks to all of them for making safe and affordable homes for our veterans and their families a reality.
