On Wednesday, October 7th and Thursday, October 8th, Bank of America volunteers joined us to paint porch railings on the 8 home development project in Moreno Valley. This volunteer day is part of the second Global Build Week, an initiative by Bank of America and Habitat for Humanity to address affordable housing challenges, which launched this year during the week of World Habitat Day. During this week, Bank of America teamed up with Habitat for Humanity affiliates around the world to revitalize homes in 75 different communities. Bank of America believes in the work that Habitat for Humanity Riverside does because homeownership is critical to long-term financial stability.
When volunteers arrived on the job site, there was a sense of familiarity and ownership. Of the 9 volunteers that joined us, 4 were returning volunteers that had worked to clean, frame, and raising the walls of these very homes just months earlier. While the day was getting started, volunteers exchanged greetings among each other as they enjoyed donuts and coffee.
Donuts were especially enjoyed by David, a regular volunteer and donut eater with Habitat for Humanity Riverside.
One painting team reminisced about last November’s wall raising day where they worked on the very same home. “It is great to see how much progress has been made on the homes and to be a part of the process from beginning to end,” they recalled. As the day progressed, despite the heat, the volunteers worked hard with smiles on their faces to make sure that the homes had the best paint job they could give.
For more than 25 years, Bank of America and Habitat for Humanity have worked together to revitalize communities and help families build a place to call home. The Global Build Week is just one part of the bank’s broader commitment to help people live better financial lives, and build stronger communities and stable economies. Recently, Bank of America has invested $50,000 to our CalVet REN project to help veterans and their families regain and maintain financial stability through access to affordable housing and financial coaching. This is just one of many instances Bank of America has partnered with and supported Habitat for Humanity Riverside.
