“We can always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.”
– President Franklin D. Roosevelt
If there was any high school volunteer group that has such a heart for Habitat for Humanity Riverside’s mission it is our Habitat Chapter from Ramona High School. I have personally supervised and worked alongside these dedicated students on many A Brush With Kindness projects throughout the Greater Riverside Area and it has always been a great pleasure.
Habitat Riverside has had a great relationship with the Ramona High School Habitat Chapter for a couple of years now. We always know that when they come out to a site they will not quit until the job is finished. I have never heard the students complain about the hard work. However, is actually the opposite- they embrace the challenge, knowing that a low-income homeowner is in need and is counting on their diligence and kindness. The students are guided by their leadership team lead by Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Gruntz of Ramona High School. They surely lead their students to give back to the communities and create an awareness to serve people.
This day was like any other day that Ramona High School Habitat Chapter has volunteered on. They came to work and wear smiles upon their faces. I observed their friendliness to one another, which carried through their work ethic. It was definitely not a surprise that homeowner Diana was ecstatic with joy as she walked out and gazed upon her newly painted home. Another wonderful ABWK has been completed in the City of Riverside.
These are the days and volunteer groups we strive to have on a weekly basis.
