At HFH Riverside, it’s always an exciting time when we get to hand the key to a new home owner. Before we welcomed the Allen and Zachary to the Habitat family, however, we had to make sure that we took care of some final details. Luckily, there were plenty of hands excited to do so.

Paula, a future Habitat homeowner, joined Joe , our Project Coordinator, and our new AmeriCorps members, Joe and Angel, to do some final cleaning of the home. After a brief tour of the work that had been done to the house, the Joes went outside to take care of the backyard and garage while Paula and Angel went inside to take care of the kitchen and rooms.

The Joes endured the heat outside while they pulled weeds and cleaned the garage.

Paula cleaned the counter tops in the kitchen while Angel started dusting the windowsills in the rooms. They then cleaned the windows and mirrors in the rooms and bathrooms to make sure that they were streak-free. The baseboards and the door frames received a little attention to get rid of some of the dust that had collected. After the floors were swept and mopped, the day was done and the house was ready for the new family.

Today was a job well done! We hope Allen and Zachary enjoy their new home.
