Habitat volunteers never cease to amaze us as they continue to respond to our call for help. This past Saturday, the volunteers helped paint the home of a young disabled veteran, Carlos, and his wife, Elizabeth, who live in Corona’s Countrywood Estates mobile home park. The previous owner had painted the home a dark brownish maroon color, however, the sun and time faded the home’s exterior making it look almost purple.
Our volunteers eagerly took on the challenge especially with the new color scheme which will make the home look brighter. Eight experienced volunteers worked on Carlos’s home, two of them being Clarinda and Demond, new Habitat homeowners fulfilling their sweat equity hours. Carlos joined the volunteers in painting the trim and brought Gatorades for everyone to keep the volunteers energized and hydrated. As usual, AnaLisa, one of Habitat’s summer interns, jumped in and helped paint the awning supports with Carlos. The front of the home had 5 tall windows so the trim took the longest to finish.
Carlos thanked everyone while they painted his home and as they were leaving to enjoy the rest of their weekend.
Thank you — Mary, Matt, Yolanda, Clarinda, Demond, Elano, Gregg, and Patti! The giving of your time is always appreciated and your efforts were evident in the change you all made in the look of Carlos and Elizabeth’s home.
