Dedicated Habitat volunteers worked through the heat wave this past Saturday to help Valerie and Otto, a retired couple living in Moreno Valley’s Il Sorrento mobile home park.
To start the day, Heather, a seasoned volunteer, helped with the volunteer sign-ins. After a quick safety/painting orientation, everyone split into groups.
Team 1: Elano and Alex
Team 2: Gregg, Patti, and Heather
Team 3: Carlos, Melissa, Chao, and Shelagh
Team 4: Holly, Debra, Lauren, Lilliana, and Carl.
Team 1 painted the front of the home, while Team 2 worked the back. Some members from Team 3 took care of the ladder work for the long sides of the home, while others used an extension pole to reach the trim on the awnings of the drive way. Towards the latter part of the day, Teams 1 and 2 continued working on their individual sections of the home, while Teams 3 and 4 joined alliances to tackle the patio driveway side.
Due to weather restrictions and the rise in temperature, the work day was cut short. Because of their dedication, volunteers from the group are coming back to complete the project on a cooler day.
Valerie and Otto were truly excited with their newly painted home. These Habitat volunteers rocked this past Saturday. Thank you!!!
