Thanks to Living Way Christian Fellowship in Moreno Valley and some of our loyal members of the Habitat Chapter at UCR we were able to help two homeowners in the Santiago Mobile Home Park in Moreno Valley on Saturday April 7th. We had about 18 people working on homeowner Anne Warren’s unit which needed a lot of yard clean up. Anne is a senior who has been away from home a lot helping her daughter with health concerns. Her yard became quite overgrown and she was cited for weed abatement. The group did amazing work clearing weeds, trimming fruit trees and shrubs and filled about 50 bags of yard waste! We will be painting the unit and replacing some rotted siding later this month.
The same day we were able to paint the unit belonging to Robert Snow in the same park. This unit had been painted a very strong blue which almost looked purple. The park was definitely not happy about the color scheme and there were a lot of problems with the siding and the entry deck. Turns out the deck was completely rotted out so Kathy, Dave and Hilda rebuilt the entire deck and clad it with new siding the week before. They also had to replace several panels of rotted out siding, lots of trim boards and all of the vent covers to keep critters from making themselves at home under the house!
The whole group worked very quickly and finished both projects in less than 4 hours. Way to go volunteers!
