The Martinez Family was invited to be guest speakers at the UCR Habitat Campus Chapter meeting to share their experience with Habitat and their goal of home ownership. The family of four currently rents one bedroom and is sharing the home with four other families. Five families in one house is not only an overcrowded home but have to use common areas (like the kitchen) in shifts. There is no room for their two young daughters to play. This situation is very stressful on the Martinez family; especially when their income limits their ability to afford adequate housing. Purchasing a home through Habitat means a 0% interest mortgage with affordable monthly house payments. The Martinez family will be paying the same amount for their three bedroom, two bathroom home as their rented room. The Martinez Family expressed their joy, gratitude, and new found hope in the years to come because of their ability to attain home ownership through Habitat’s program.
Habitat for Humanity Riverside staff, and Habitat homeowners want to thank all our donors, partners, sponsors, and supporters because without your help families like the Martinez would not be able to purchase an affordable home.
