It is always my pleasure in meeting wonderful homeowners, scheduling hardworking volunteer groups and supervising our A Brush With Kindness paint projects. As the ABWK Project Coordinator I meet and work alongside people of different cultures and backgrounds eager to help others and last Friday was not an exception. There was one thing special about this group however, some of the volunteer members are military Veterans. Like the other volunteers of the Norco College Veterans Club that are not Veterans, I as well have a special place in my heart for our country’s military Veterans.
The group met in Corona Palms Mobile Home Park and were eager to paint the homeowner’s home. The homeowner desperately needed her home painted and as the holidays approached, Habitat for Humanity Riverside wanted to grant her this as soon as possible. This task could have only been accomplished by a hardworking volunteer group and the homeowner and Habitat Riverside was blessed by one that morning. The Norco Vet. Club members tackled every wall, trim, awning and door with a fervor of completing goals set before them.
As the paint was brushed, rolled on the surfaces every inch was nearing to a completed project. Though we may have started the project a bit later than expected on that morning we finished before our cut off time of noon. The homeowner was ecstatic about her newly painted home. Smiles and cheer filled the crisp winter air and a sense of achievement and kindness filled our hearts. This home is not just a number on our recorded list of painted homes, it is a blessed homeowner and reliable Veteran and non-veteran volunteers.
Merry Christmas!
